LaPorte High School football player collapses during practice, dies
A high school athlete collapsed and died during football practice in LaPorte, Indiana.
17-year-old Jake West was a varsity linebacker at LaPorte High School.
He was running laps in full gear Wednesday afternoon when he was found on the ground with no pulse.
CPR got his pulse back, and got him breathing, but only briefly.
He died at the hospital an hour later.
An autopsy this afternoon is expected to determine what caused West to collapse.
