A southwest suburban mayor is putting supply and demand to the test and telling his residents not to buy gasoline at his village’s gas station.
New Lenox mayor Tim Baldermann is calling for the boycott in an effort to drive down prices.
He says he called the gas companies to complain last week and prices fell 30-cents per gallon this week.
Despite that, Baldermann says his residents are still paying more than neighboring towns.
Baldermann says the power is in the hands of the consumer. When they stop buying, prices will come down.
