A man was killed on his birthday when a car hit him as he was crossing the street on the Chicago’s South Side.
According to the Chicago Police Department, the incident happened in the 8300 block of South Blackstone at about 8:30 p.m.
The driver of the Jetta was traveling southbound on Blackstone at a high rate of speed when he struck three people, police said.
32-year-old Eugene Ratliff was taken to the hospital in critical condition but later died.
A 30-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man were also taken to local hospitals with injuries. They are in stable condition.
The 17-year-old was arrested after he tried running away from the scene.
No charges have been filed yet.
