The Illinois Dept of Corrections let another inmate escape custody this week because of a paperwork glitch.
But they nabbed 25-year-old Jeremiah Harris in Carpentersville this afternoon after he walked away from a court trial.
Harris had been serving a 12 year sentence for being a habitual armed offender. On Monday, he was found not guilty of a double murder, and the judge terminated probation, despite the fact that he was incarcerated.
Officials say the order from the judge did not include language that he had to go back to prison.
Harris is returning to Statesville where he had been serving his sentence.
It’s the third incident of a prisoner walking free because of bad paperwork this year.
