The family of Dave Azooz says it was his body that was pulled out of a lake in far north suburban Antioch Tuesday night.

Azooz, 47, and a relative had been out on the lake when he slipped into the water while checking the engine of his boat.

Dive teams were called to Lake Marie in the Chain O’Lakes at 6:30 p.m., after reports of a man falling into the water.

About an hour later, it shifted from rescue mission to recovery mode.

Divers recovered the man’s body shortly before 11 p.m.

Azooz was a father of four and worked as a mechanic.

Dave's death is both shocking and disturbing. He was no fool and knew that lake well. Dave was a good neighbor and someone you wanted near you if things went bad. The community will miss him dearly as will all of his water sport friends. My first response to hearing this was that there must be a mistake. This is not someone this happens to. Sadly I am incorrect. Hopefully we will all learn something from this tragedy. Tonight I'll raise a glass and toast Dave for having known him. Though my time with him was short compared to others that time was spent laughing and enjoying the sport of freestyle jet skiing. I will miss him. His loved ones hopefully will be able to wrap their wounds with warm memories of him.
