CTA Ventra card system tied to job cuts
The CTA’s new Ventra card system could mean dozens of employees will lose their jobs.
The CTA board voted Wednesday to eliminate 149 positions, mostly in management and administration.
Officials say the layoffs will save the CTA $13 million a year and create a more efficient operation.
About one-third of the jobs already are vacant.
Officials say employees who are affected by the cuts may be able to fill other open positions.
