Stony Island Ave. proposed to honor Bishop Brazier

A major South Side street may be getting a new name.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel has proposed changing Stony Island Ave. to Reverend Bishop Brazier Ave.

Brazier was head of a large church, a civic leader and he marched with Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. in Chicago’s civil rights movement in the 1960s.

He died in 2010.

Stony Island runs from 56th St. to 130th St..

How much is it going to cost the city to change all those street signs, not to mention the cost to all the business owners to change their business cards, signage, etc… for what? To honor the guy who invented the grill at Dairy Queen?

Just put the street sign underneath Stony Islands' like you do to all other honorees. It will always be Stony Island to us Southsiders…Leave it alone please
