Wednesday was another hot and humid day in Chicago. The high temperature reached 93 degrees at Midway, 91 at OI’Hare and 85 degrees at Northerly Island on Chicago’s lakefront.
The late season heat wave has elevated the city’s anemic number of 90 degrees this year but they are still below normal. To date O’Hare has officially logged 13 days of 90-degrees or higher compared to a normal of 17 while Midways total of 18 lag the 24 considered normal at that site.
Sharply cooler weather will prevail the next few days with high temperatures struggling to reach 70 degrees by Friday with overnight lows dropping into the 40s in areas away from the lake for the first times since early June.
However, after the weekend cool down temperatures are expected to rebound to warmer territory by early next week.
