Tuesday has been one of the hottest days of 2013.  Chicago tied the 1983 record of 95 degrees  at O’Hare. Midway Airport’s temp has hit 96 degrees.

Some schools in the area closed early.  So far, only a few has chosen to have early release again tomorrow, you can find that updated list here.

The heat began early today.

At North Avenue beach volleyballers came out before the sun got too intense and the fall temps rushed in.

But the heat isn’t the best for everyone, including those who have to work hard outside.

A house fire in Lakeview earlier today could have turned even more dangerous for those called out.

“In this heat, the medical victims are usually the firefighters themselves,” said Chicago Fire commissioner Jose Santiago.  “We try to get those fluids back into firefighters and right now, although there are no injuries, we do have one firefighter being looked at and that is possibly dehydration.”

For some, the sun rays turned in to gold.

“To tell you the truth, I don’t want to be outside in the weather.  But it’s fantastic for business,” said Ken Anderson of Lickity Split Frozen Custard and Sweets.
