A man wrongfully imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit were released Tuesday afternoon.
Lathierial Boyd was an aspiring model with a promising future when he was wrongly convicted of a double-murder and sentenced to 80 years in prison.
Boyd was found guilty of killing one person and wounding another outside a Wrigleyville bar in 1990.
His lawyers successfully argued his conviction rested primarily on the testimony of the wounded man, Ricky Warner. They contended Warner initially told police he did not know who shot him, but during the trial Warner testified Boyd shot him and the other man over a drug debt.
On Tuesday he was released from Western Illinois Correctional Center.
