Chicago’s Independent Police Review Authority is investigating the actions of an officer who killed a man at a West Side Chicago Housing Authority building.
It happened Saturday morning in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street.
The officer was working as a security guard when he saw another guard ask a non-resident to leave the property.
A police spokesperson said the man, who refused to leave, knocked the officer to the ground and attacked the female security guard by pulling out her braids.
he officer shot the man once in the chest.
The man was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital.
The incident was the fourth police-involved shooting in a 24-hour period.
