Residents of the Sauganash neighborhood are holding what they call a “Take Back the Sauganash Trail” walk Thursday morning.

The march is in solidarity with two off-duty policewomen who were assaulted while jogging on the trail last week.

One woman said a man tried to force her off the trail with his bicycle August 27th; then he grabbed her shoulder, but she got away from him.

Then August 29th, a man grabbed another woman from behind, pushed her to the ground and tried to remove her clothing; but her screams scared him away.

Both women described the assailant as a light-skinned Hispanic man, about 5’7″, 140-150 pounds, with shore black hair.

Forest Preserve officials have ordered additional patrols of the Sauganash Trail until a suspect is caught.
