Some residents of Zion appealed to their City Council Tuesday night to expand the search for the body of a missing baby.
It’s believed Joshua Summeries was suffocated by his mother’s boyfriend, Demetries Thorpe, because the child wouldn’t stop crying.
Police say Thorpe then put the baby’s body in a backpack and threw it into a dumpster.
A search of the Zion landfill turned up no sign of Joshua.
But friends and relatives say searchers gave up too soon, and they’re asking for a more thorough search of the landfill.
The Zion City Council has made no decision on a renewed search for Joshua.
