Fish For Labor Day

UnknownHappy Labor Day everyone.

Beautiful day at Wrigley as Giancarlo Stanton and the Miami Marlins are in town.  They don’t score much, although their pitching has been decent.

All-Star Travis Wood gets the ball for the Cubs today.  Righty Henderson Alvarez makes his Wrigley Field debut for the Fish.

Couple of pre-game notes from Dale Sveum’s meeting with the media:

*Junior Lake/Ryan Sweeney/Brian Bogusevic will be in a 3-man rotation for 2 spots (LF/CF) vs. right-handed starters with Nate Schierholtz playing RF.

*The plans for Scott Baker aren’t finalized, but after his start today with Kane County, one possibility is he could join the Cubs as a long man in the bullpen. No current plans to use him as a starter, unless somebody needs an extra day.

*Look for 4-5 more call-ups at some point (Iowa finishes its season today), including a catcher.

Enjoy the ballgame on WGN!

C'mon, guys! Let's bring the Cubbies home to victory in the last two innings! Saw the game vs. the Dodgers last Tuesday when the Cubs unaccountably (?!?!) beat Kershaw and avoided the fate of Bob Henley 48 years ago that I attended 6 days after my 17th birthday! Anyway, a great win for Wood! Had good friends with us who are extremely loyal Dodger fans, too! Anyway, turning 65 tomorrow: wish the game was on WGNA! :-(
