Child hit by Aurora police car

squad-car-lightsAn Aurora police officer hit a child with a squad car at the height of Friday night’s storms.

Authorities say the officer was driving north on Ohio Street near Front Street, when two children tried to run across Ohio.

The squad car struck a 9-year-old.

The officer got out and administered first aid.

The child was taken to the hospital with possible internal injuries.

The other child and officer were not hurt.

The police department is investigating, but speed has been ruled out as a factor.
