Police: Mom left 1-year-old in mini-van exceeding 100-degrees

A mother is charged with neglect after leaving her 1-year-old baby in a hot car, where police say temperatures exceeded 100-degrees.

Leah Grentzer told police she forgot her child was in the back of her mini-van.

It happened last week in Schererville, Indiana.

Someone saw the child inside the van and called police.

Grentzer did not come out of the store until after the child had been taken to the hospital.

Has the government gone crazy? Criminal charges for forgetting something?

This isn't like forgetting your phone in your car. This was a baby who could have died.

Horrible. I know someone will say something about how it happens all the time when parents are exhausted. I have two kids and have been exhausted to the point of being dizzy and I have NEVER forgotten to bring them. I will bet she baby was sleeping and "it will be just a quick trip. It's not THAT hot yet…"
