Girl, 11, among those hurt in weekend shootings across Chicago
There were 15 shootings, including two murders, over the weekend in Chicago.
An 11-year-old was among those who were shot and injured.
Cindy Leon was sitting on her porch with her brother and a neighbor at about 4 a.m. Sunday in the 2300 block of North Kostner in the city’s Hermosa neighborhood. Her mother Delinde Leon says a woman ran up to their house and started shooting.
“She was shot one time. It went through sideways in the side and and out the front. She was lucky the doctors said,” Leon said.
Cindy’s mom says she doesn’t know who the shooter was or why she would target their building.
Cindy spent the morning at Lurie Children’s Hospital before returning home.
Police are investigating.
