Chicago police officer hit in head with bat

Chicago police are looking for the person who hit an officer in the head with a baseball bat.

He was hit about 12:40 a.m. in the 5700 block of South Winchester Avenue.

Police say the officer was responding to a call of a battery-in-progress in the Englewood neighborhood, when he was injured.

The officer was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.

He’s listed in serious but stable condition.
