Zion police search landfill for missing baby
Zion police are searching a landfill for a five month-old boy who remains missing for a third day.
Authorities are sifting through garbage at the 330 acre, Advanced Disposal facility at 9th Avenue and Green Bay Road for any signs of Joshua Summeries. They began checking the landfill at 7:30 a.m.
The five month-old was reported missing by his mother around 8 a.m. Wednesday.
Her boyfriend is in custody as a “person of interest.”
Their neighbors on the 2300 block of Galilee Avenue say they heard the couple argue, including on the morning the baby vanished.
Police urged residents to check their garbage and search their properties, and delayed garbage pick-up until Friday.
“My hope is the baby’s alive. My fear is no that we’re now in the point of looking at the worst,” said Zion Police Chief Wayne Brooks.
