A large crowd gather in Uptown tonight for a vigil for the victims of a shooting there earlier this week as well as the community itself.

People sang and prayed outside Uptown Baptist Church.   Those who gathered didn’t call for more police. They called for more prayer.

The group prayed on all four corners of Wilson and Sheridan just two days after five people were shot while waiting for the bus.

Brianna Williams says her 21-year-old boyfriend pushed others out of the way before being shot in the head.  Darius Oliver is on life support.
Chicago Police say no one is in custody for the shooting.

I agree wholeheartedly. Instead of increased police presence, or cracking down on gang violence, we need more prayer. Because prayer is really really really effective at causing things to happen.

And these guys who drive around murdering rivals and shooting into crowds of people? They're good kids at heart. What they need is some pastor or priest or whatever to throw their arm around their shoulders and give them a bit of industrial strength Church. Because religion super-effective at stopping bullets, and the only reason the gangbangers are firing into groups of people is because they don't know God doesn't like it, and that it's wrong. Once they realize this they'll stop.

In Chicago, The Preacher/Revernend that Preaches the loudest usually get the most attention from the Media and the politicians. Unfortunately, there are to many of these opportunist holding rain danceses in the streets, acting like they are going to stop the shootings. The madness and crime in Chicago is Opportunity for them to put that face in the media and hopefully a few $$$ come their way. Business and opportunity comes in strange forms.
