Man attacks neighbor, friend of 40 years with chainsaw

An altercation between two neighbors in Washington Heights led to one man being attacked with a chainsaw.

It happened at 2 a.m. Wednesday in the 1000 block of West 103rd.

Preston Smith, 55, and his neighbor were drinking together in a backyard.

They apparently got into an argument, and the neighbor attacked the man with the chainsaw injuring the man’s fingers.

He was taken to the hospital where he is in stable condition; doctors are hoping to save his fingers.

The neighbor is not in custody.

Smith’s mother told WGN the men were best friends and neighbors for 40 years.

Police have not said who or what started the fight.

    American gun deaths=31,000+
    Australia<300

      USA population – 313,900,000
      AUS population – 22,320,000

But that has nothing to do with it.
