An altercation between two neighbors in Chicago’s Washington Heights led to one man being attacked with a chainsaw early this morning.
Mildred Smith says her son, 55-year-old Preston Smith was drinking late last night in the backyard with his best friend and neighbor. She says the two men got into a bad argument. Just before 2 a.m., she says the neighbor, a 51-year-old man, lost his temper and fired up a chainsaw.
Smith’s mother says she isn’t sure what sparked the outrage.
Smith apparently tried to drive away when the neighbor came after him with the chainsaw cutting into the fingers of Smith’s left hand and damaging his car as well.
Smith remains in the hospital in fair condition. Doctors are trying to save his fingers.
No one has been arrested.
