Hit-and-run driver kills man, 83, on Northwest Side

Chicago police searched Wednesday for a hit-and-run driver who killed an 83-year-old man in the West Rogers Park neighborhood.

It happened at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, in the 2800 block of West Devon Avenue.

The man was in a crosswalk when an SUV ran a red light, and hit him.

Witnesses say the driver never stopped.

Two men chased the vehicle, but lost it.

Police are looking for a red or maroon SUV, possibly a Suburban or Tahoe.

The victim has been identified as Norman Esho, of Chicago.

His son owns a video store near where he was hit.

Police are hoping surveillance video and security cameras in the area will lead them to the vehicle and the driver.

If this idiot ran the red light then it shouldn't be to difficult to find him. There is a red light camera at this intersection. Hopefully he had a plate & the camera was actually working. Either way he won't be punished accordingly. The guy that killed the poor guy last November just a few blocks east of this incident was just sentenced to fours years after he hit & ran. Plus time already served in the County. Which means he'll be out in 18 months or less. No FAITH in this BS judicial system. If you make the punishment fit the crime the jails wouldn't be over crowded. Simple! God bless the families of both men and may their souls be at peace…
