Single-game Hawks tickets on sale today

Tribune report

It’s still only August, but hockey is just around the corner: Single-game tickets for 2013-14 regular-season Chicago Blackhawks home games go on sale at 10 a.m. today.

Tickets can be purchased at, Ticketmaster locations or by calling (800) 745-3000.

For the first time since the 2005-06 season, the Hawks will open at home. The Washington Capitals will be the opponent when the Hawks raise the banner on their Stanley Cup triumph on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at the United Center.

In a new wrinkle this season, Hawks night games will begin at 7 p.m. (rather than 7:30 as in the past), unless national TV dictates otherwise.

Disaster. The online ticketmaster site crashed. I had great tickets, on the glass, lined up. Hit enter, wait ,…wait,…only ones mute remaing,….still one minute,…poof– tickets are gone. Standing room only tickets available. All in the first 5 minutes. And the phone line was constantly busy. What a joke. Obviously, they were not prepared for the volume, or some organization was buying up large quantities of tickets in some automated manner. Either way, fans lose.
