Off-duty Chicago officer dies after apparent heart attack
The Chicago Police Department is mourning one of its sergeants today after he suffered an apparent heart attack while riding a motorcycle while off-duty.
A hero’s salute greeted the ambulance when it arrived at the medical examiner’s office late Sunday night.
The department has not released a name, but says the sergeant was 44-years-old and a 21-year veteran.
He was able to stop the cycle on LaGrange Road in Willow Springs without colliding with anyone before collapsing.
Efforts to revive him at a hospital failed.
