Grocery store destroyed in fire on Southeast Side

Fire tore through a grocery store on the city’s Southeast Side Monday morning.

Firefighters were on the defensive for roughly two hours as they battled the fire at 2047 East 79th Street.

It was struck out around 4:30 a.m.

The damage to the building was extensive.

Some neighbors say, they’ll miss the convenience of a grocery store in their neighborhood.
