Boy, 7, injured in West Side shooting

Chicago police are looking for the person who shot a 7-year-old boy on the West Side.

It happened just before 9 p.m. Sunday, in the 4200 block of West 5th Avenue in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.

The boy has been identified as Tyvion Jackson.

Jackson was walking with his bike up the back stairs of his house when he was hit.

A group of people on a corner down the block had been arguing with someone in a car and one of them pulled a gun and fired, police said.

The gunman then took off running.

Jackson was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious-to-critical condition, but was released early Monday morning.

Officials say Jackson has been talking with his family.

The shooting happened down the street from Charles Sumner Math and Science Community Academy.

No arrests have been made.
