CTA worker attacked in West Town

A CTA worker is attacked at a blue line station in the West Town neighborhood.

Chicago Police say the suspect was captured on surveillance video, and they’re looking for him now.

The attack happened around 5 a.m. Wednesday at the Chicago Avenue stop.

Police say the 47-year-old woman was attacked as she left the station’s bathroom. They claim a man pushed her back into the restroom, and began choking her. She screamed, and he threatened to cut her, but never pulled a knife. He ran away when someone else walked inside the station. The woman did not suffer any life-threatening injuries.

The attack has some people concerned, but not surprised.

“Whenever I walk around this neighborhood, if I’m out at night, I always look behind me. It’s not that I’m paranoid, it’s just you have to be precautious,” said neighborhood resident Mike Simons.
