Obtain your child’s credit report by contacting a credit issuing agency directly

Ask why it is necessary before putting your child’s Social Security on any form

Never carry your child’s Social Security card in your purse or wallet

Deposit mail only in mailboxes that can be locked

Teach your child not to release private information such as their date of birth and Social Security number.
