Man shot dead in front of family in Joliet restaurant

A man Crime Scene has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of another man, as he sat with his wife and children at a restaurant in Joliet.

According to the Miami Herald, Christopher Thompson was charged with murder.

Police said Thompson walked into Louis’s Family Restaurant, 1001 W. Jefferson St. in Joliet Saturday morning, and shot 29-year-old Gerardo Franchini ‘point blank.’

The victim’s family said Franchini knew Thompson, and that the two had gotten into an argument ten minutes before the shooting occurred.

No one else was injured.
