New law will help families of injured high school football players

High schools across the state are currently issuing its football players shoulder pads, helmets and soon catastrophic health insurance.

It is thanks to the Rocky Clark Law, named for the Eisenhower High player paralyzed from an injury back in 2000.

Clark’s family’s insurance coverage ran out before he died last year.

Governor Pat Quinn is expected to sign the bill into law this weekend requiring every student-athlete be covered up to $3 million dollars.

Bill supporters say the coverage should cost less than two-dollars per student-athlete.
