Former Cubs pitcher Frank Castillo dies after drowning in AZ lake

Former Cubs pitcher Frank Castillo is dead at age 44.

Castillo drowned Sunday while swimming in a lake near Phoenix.

Besides being part of the Cubs’ pitching staff, Castillo spent time as a minor league coach.

He is the third member of the Cubs’ 1997 roster to die.

Five years ago, pitcher Kevin Foster died of cancer, and Jeremy Gonzales was struck by lightning.
