Chicago celebrates 1st annual ‘Chaka Khan Day’, free concert

Today is Chicago’s first official ‘Chaka Khan Day’.

chakakhanThe city honored the music legend with a birthday tribute in Millennium Park Saturday.

She also had a stretch of Blackstone Avenue in Hyde Park named in her honor.

The Chicago native recently turned 60 years-old, and is celebrating 40 years in the music business.

Chaka Khan, who was born Yvette Marie Stevens, went to high school at Kenwood Academy, just steps from the newly named “Chaka Khan Way”.

Chaka Khan is saying thanks with a free concert in Millennium Park Sunday, at 6 p.m.
