World War II history is coming to the Chicago area this weekend.
“The Wings of Freedom” exhibit will spend three days at the Executive Airport in Wheeling.
The tour features several planes including a B-17 bomber, one of only eight still flying in the U.S.
The planes are expected to land around 1:30p.m. Friday and will be open to the public in the afternoon.
Saturday and Sunday, visitors can see these historic machines, from 9:30a.m. to 5p.m. Veterans can tour the exhibit for free.
And some may even choose to take a ride in one of the planes.
It costs $425 for 30 minutes in a bomber and $2,000 for the P-51 Mustang.
Money from the tour goes to the Collings Foundation, a nonprofit organization that works to teach history through active participation.
