Fire burns Joliet prison where ‘Blues Brothers’ filmed
A fire broke out inside an old prison building in Joliet.
The fire started around 3:15 a.m. Thursday inside a maintenance shack that’s inside the prison.
The roof collapsed.
The building was empty, but was previously used as a warehouse to store goods. No other buildings were damaged.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The prison was built in the 1850s, but has been closed since 2002.
It’s been used for movies and TV shows.
It was featured as the prison in the movie “The Blues Brothers.”
