Wrigley renovations approved by city council

Chicago aldermen approved the Chicago Cubs’ proposal to spend $500 million to overhaul the Wrigley Field.

The plan calls for a 5,700-square-foot video board in left field, and a see-through billboard in right field.

The plan also includes a hotel and an office-retail complex nearby.

Wrigley Field’s $500 million renovation approved by city councilThe approval comes after months of intense negotiations between the Cubs, Mayor Emanuel, and 44th Ward Ald. Tom Tunney.

The deal doesn’t include some other hot button issues, including a proposal to extend the right field wall back even farther. The team also agreed to drop its request for a pedestrian bridge over Clark Street.
