Chicago White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko was reinstated Monday after being on the 15-day disabled list since July 3.

Konerko, 37, has been recovering from a lower back strain. The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder appeared in three rehabilitation games with Birmingham from July 18-20, going 4-10 (.400).

Konerko is hitting .249 (63-253) with nine doubles, seven home runs, 30 RBI and 25 runs scored over 67 games with the White Sox this season.  He has made 34 starts at first base and 33 as the designated hitter.

Konerko’s reinstatement comes ahead of tonight’s game against the Detroit Tigers.
