The attendance at this year’s Taste of Chicago beat last year’s by 25 percent.
According to the Chicago Mayor’s Office, an estimated 1.5 million people visited Taste of Chicago, which wrapped up Sunday.
That kind of crowd means a ton of food was consumed over the five-day festival.
To give some perspective on the sheer quantities of food consumed: Abbey Pub sold 25,000 ears of corn while Eli’s Cheesecake handed out 75,000 slices.
Visitors enjoyed 2,280 pounds of wings from Cubby Bear, while The Fudge Pot distributed 26,000 chocolate frozen bananas.

– Star of Siam: 100,000 piece of pot stickers
-Tutto Italiano: 57,500 pieces of toasted ravioli
-Billy Goat Tavern: 20,000 cheeseburgers
Last year’s Taste of Chicago lost the city $1.3 million. It is not yet known if this year’s Taste was a profit or lost to the city.
