Some outraged parents gathered outside a Northwest Side school Monday night, to speak out against the school’s principal for shaming several female students.
At Decatur Classical School’s end-of-year awards ceremony in the school’s West Rogers Park gym, parents say the principal singled out seven girls during the end-of-year awards ceremony.
The Sun-Times reports that Principal Susan Kukielka said, “These are not girls of distinction because their shorts are too short.”
Parents say the girls were humiliated.
Kukielka later sent letters of apology to the students.
The school does not have an official dress code but school officials say announcements were made about proper school attire.
