Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords wrapped up her tour of seven states Sunday, aimed at promoting expanded gun control.
Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly were scheduled to be in North Carolina Sunday, where they will thank lawmakers for supporting background check legislation.
Giffords was seriously injured two years ago, when a gunman opened fire at a congressional event she was holding in her Tucson, Arizona district.
Saturday, she and her husband met with former president George H. W. Bush and his wife Barbara in Maine.
Kelly is a personal acquaintance of the Bush family.
