One person was injured in a South Side fire that broke out late Monday night.
According to the Chicago Fire Department, firefighters were called to a restaurant in the 300 block of East Pershing Street in city’s Bronzeville neighborhood around 11:00 p.m.
Flames quickly began to spread and the fire was elevated to a 3-11. Firefighters had the blaze under control by 2:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, but continued to work on it.
One person was taken to Mercy Hospital in good-to-fair condition.
The roof of the building collapsed, but no other injuries were reported.
The fire is under investigation.
