Pair up program encourages friendship, fitness at Chicago high school

We don’t often think of high school kids stepping outside of themselves to help others.  But at Lane Tech High School, they beg to differ.  There’s a program there building lasting relationships between students who may not otherwise interact.

The school’s PE Leaders Program pairs Special Ed students with “Regular Ed.”

24920685Students voluntarily sign up for the program.

It includes 60 special education students with a range of challenges.

The program has been so successful; teachers and administrators hope to expand it next year so it not only includes physical education but also art and music.
