The 18-year-old suspect in a double homicide that left a 5-year-old boy and his 31-year-old mom dead was found bleeding from at least four gunshot wounds Friday night on the West Side.
The man shot Friday night is in critical condition at Mount Sinai Hospital. Someone walked up to him in the 2800 block of West Arthington Street in the Lawndale neighborhood about 9:10 p.m. and shot him in the buttocks, neck, leg and groin, police said.
Police suspect the man in a Friday morning shooting inside an apartment in the 5300 block of South Winchester Street in the Back of the Yards neighborhood. Less than 20 hours passed between the two shootings.
Three Chicago Police department sources confirmed the man’s identity as the sole suspect.
Police don’t have anyone in custody in the 18-year-old’s shooting. They found him alone with nobody around to provide details about what may have happened, police said.
Sources said the man hasn’t woken up yet. Police initially identified him using a tattoo and confirmed his identity when he got out of surgery by taking his fingerprints.
Police knew who they were looking for early on because he was pointed out by witnesses as the shooter, sources said. Relatives of the two people killed also knew the man and said he lived in the neighborhood.
Court records match information about the suspect provided by family.

My heart goes out to the people of the City of Chicago. Just reading about the senseless & callous killings outrages & saddens me. When is it going to stop??? Why won't they declare a state of emergency & call in the National Guards!!! I have been reading The Chicago Tribune online for several years now& the stories are heartbreaking. From "Yummy" to Heaven Sutton to the countless killings of others…SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE! THESE STORIES ARE HORRIBLE!There are good people living in these war zones that can't afford to pack up & leave…WHAT ABOUT THEM!

Too bad he missed the protests scheduled for today and tomorrow. Because that is important to the community! FUBAR
