Investigators are looking into the cause of a small plane crash in northwest suburban Wheeling.

A twin-engine plane went down near the intersection of Hintz and Wolf Roads, at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

FAA officials say it was attempting to land at the Chicago Executive Airport.

The plane came dangerously close to crashing into an apartment complex.

The pilot was the only person on the plane, and suffered minor injuries.

No one on the ground was hurt.

About a quarter mile short of the runway. Beechcraft, probably seats 12. 2 prop engines. Only pilot on board, walked away with minor injuries. Right wing destroyed, otherwise not much damage to the plane. Got a few good pictures.
