Hundreds of Blackhawks fans descend upon the York Tavern in Oak Brook in the hopes of seeing the Stanley Cup. But, it appears their dreams were pinned on false rumors on social media.
Coach Joel Quenneville lives nearby, and his car was spotted in the area. When the Hawks won the Cup in 2010, “Coach Q” brought the trophy to the tavern three days after the team returned home from Philadelphia.
The owner of the tavern had no idea what was going on at his business. It took a call from police to alert him.
“We were driving in the mall and we saw all the cars, so we stopped, and one of my friends said that last year, the Cup came here after,” said one fan.
