Thunderstorm watch in effect south of Chicago metro area

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for south portions of the Chicago metro area until 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Scattered thunderstorms are already developing between Peoria and Springfield.

Hail and gusty winds could accompany these thunderstorms as they move northeast towards the south portions of Livingston and Ford counties in east-central Illinois.
