Cup celebrations cause damages, arrests

Chicago police report 23 people were arrested across the city overnight and 21 tickets were issued during the Blackhawks victory celebration.

For many watching from home, the game, then the aftermath and scenes of barricade-surfing fans, bottles thrown at police horses were infuriating

Police had a plan for crowd management developed weeks in advance.  They used horses to rein-in the crowd.

Rawland and Pamela Dennis were up from Lansing celebrating a wedding, and watching the Hawks when they tried to head home and found a car they couldn’t drive. The jubilant mob left thousands of dollars in damage.”

“It was shocking,” Pamela said.

Lakeview business owners were upset that the plan forced revelers up against their shops and into, and sometimes through, their windows.

Surveillance video from one business shows crowds of partiers packed outside.
