Police say, three men made the leap from the top of Trump Tower Wednesday night and got away with it. They were parachuting, sometimes called BASE, 1200 feet from the ground.
Chicago police superintendent Gary McCarthy and his detectives are investigating the incident. They released four pictures of the three suspects. The three men were caught on camera climbing 92 flights of stairs inside Trump Tower. All three were carrying a pack, presumably with a parachute inside.
The thrill seeking trio may have been inspired by last night’s calm weather, conditions ideal perhaps for a jump. They also may have been inspired by those who went before them, like Shaun Walters in April of 2011 who parachuted along Wacker Drive near LaSalle and was slapped with a misdemeanor reckless conduct charge. In july of 2010, stunt men shooting the movie Transformers 3 took the plunge from Trump Tower, but had permission, of course.
No video of the stunt has surfaced. Anyone with info should call Chicago police.
