The Guardian Angels are on patrol on Chicago’s far Northwest Side just two days after a woman was attacked in a park.
Wednesday morning, the Guardian Angels were escorting people through Mayfair Park in the 4500 block of West Agatite near West Montrose Avenue and the Kennedy Expressway.
Monday night, a man grabbed a woman who was walking in the park by the neck, threw her to the ground and tried to take off her clothes. She screamed and the attacker hit her in the face and ran off.
Chicago Police are looking for the suspect, described as an Hispanic or dark-skinned man between 5 feet, 9 inches and 5 feet, 11 inches tall and between 140 and 160 pounds.
He had short black hair and was wearing an orange hooded sweatshirt at the time of the attack.
They are also offering a free city wide self defense class downtown Chicago in July.
Residents say the park needs more lighting and security, especially during the nighttime hours.
