Woman attacked in Far Northwest Side park
The man, believed to be 20 to 25 years old, approached the woman from behind as she walked down the sidewalk in the 4500 block of West Agatite Avenue around 9:55 p.m. Monday.
The woman told police at the man grabbed her neck and pushed her to the ground, then tried to remove her clothes. The woman screamed, and the attacker hit her in the face and ran off.
The woman ran to the 4600 block of West Montrose Avenue and got help.
She was taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital for cuts to the face and knee.
Police are searching for the attacker, described as Hispanic, about 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-10, 130 to 150 pounds, with black hair.
He was last seen wearing an orange hooded sweatshirt, police said.
Police do not believe the attack was related to Sunday’s sexual attack of a young girl in her bedroom in the Albany Park neighborhood.
45th Ward Alderman John Arena tells WGN News he plans to talk to a building owner near the park about putting up more lighting in the area.
Arena also says he will work with police to make the area safer.
